Aiden Markram reflects on Sunrisers Hyderabad’s win over Delhi Capitals

Sunrisers Hyderabad

SRH captain Aiden Markram said:

“Great team effort, good to see the guys show good skill and character. I don’t mind getting things wrong if the approach is right. It helps to see such performances; the guys will see that results are there to be had. Credit to the way the team has responded.”

Sunrisers Hyderabad registered a thrilling nine-run victory over Delhi Capitals in the 40th match of IPL 2023. Hyderabad batted first and put up a daunting total of 197 runs, courtesy of some brilliant batting. In the chase, Delhi Capitals seemed to be in control of the game despite losing David Warner early, as Phil Salt and Mitchell Marsh played well to stabilise the innings. They scored 105 runs in the first 10 overs, giving Delhi an edge in the chase.

However, Hyderabad made a quick comeback and picked up five wickets in the next seven overs, shifting the momentum in their favour. Delhi was unable to recover from this blow and ended up losing the match. A brilliant display of skill and character from Hyderabad resulted in their victory over the bottom-placed Delhi team.

This win will give great confidence: Aiden Markram

Reflecting on the individual performances, Markram discussed how Abhishek Sharma provided a great start for Hyderabad’s innings with his 67 off 36 balls. Additionally, he mentioned Heinrich Klassen’s unbeaten 53 off 27 deliveries.

“Klassy has been in great form, and Abhishek did the hard work early on. Klassy backs himself to play that way, good to see it pay off. We needed wickets to get back in the game; the two were doing well, and it needed a special catch from Mayank. Fortunately, the ball was stopping a bit. And the bowlers showed great character to execute their spoils. This win will give great confidence; now we travel back home and try to build on this,”
