Alan Crompton, former CA chairman passes away at 81

Long time cricket administrator and former Cricket Australia chairman, Alan Crompton passed away on 22nd April.

Crompton became chairman in 1992 and remained in the position till 1995.

Previously, Cricket Australia was named the Australian Cricket Board.

He also had the life membership of Cricket NSW as well as the Sydney University Cricket Club.

Crompton was the chairman of Cricket New South Wales and a delegate to CA before his appointment as chairman.

As a board member, he went with the Australia Test team on three overseas tours as manager.

Crompton also received the Order of Australia medal for his contributions to the sport of cricket.

Current CA chairman Lachlan Henderson paid rich tributes to Alan Crompton after his passing away.

Henderson said that all those who have worked and been friends with Crompton would be deeply saddened by his passing away.

He further added that Crompton’s 60 years as a cricket administrator are valuable and he has left behind a rich legacy for future cricket administrators.

Henderson ended by saying that Cricket Australia sympathizes with the family of Crompton and with all those who have been friends with him and have experienced his friendship and guidance.
