Former South Africa all-rounder Albie Morkel has joined Bangladesh national cricket team as a power-hitting coach.

He is now helping the national side in their preparation ahead of the South Africa tour.

Morkel is the second South African after Allan Donald who has joined Bangladesh.

The national team is undergoing an overhaul of their coaching staff and are looking for better and more experienced players.

This will allow Bangladesh to be guided in a positive direction so that they can win more matches.

This will also improve their standings in the ICC rankings as well.

Jamie Siddons is leading the batting department and will help in coaching the batsmen.

BCB’s cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus gave the confirmation to Cricbuzz after the appointment of Morkel.

He said that as an experienced campaigner, Morkel will be beneficial for the team as a power-hitting coach.

This is the first time the board has decided to appoint a power-hitting coach to their side.

Bangladesh in recent times have suffered immensely in the power-hitting department in limited-overs cricket.

This is also the reason and the weakest link of their team so far that has had a detrimental effect on the team’s performance.

With the appointment of Morkel, Bangladesh are hoping to give some strength to this weak link that will help them to perform better in the future.
