Mohammad Kaif, a former India cricketer, has praised David Warner, an Australian opener, by calling him a legendary batter of the Indian Premier League. Warner, who led Sunrisers Hyderabad to victory in 2016, will lead Delhi Capitals in the upcoming season, as Rishabh Pant won’t be available.

According to Kaif, Warner is capable of winning matches single-handedly for his team, and he is the biggest strength of Delhi. Despite suffering an elbow injury during the four-match Test series against India in February, the southpaw has recently recovered.

“The team’s strength for me, I’ll always say is Warner. He is the kind of player that, whenever he’s in form, he can win matches single-handedly. Warner probably never gets the credit he deserves but he’s proven to be a legendary batter in IPL history,”

Kaif said.

Kaif further added:

“He has understood the Indian conditions supremely well. He’s been playing in India for a while. So for me, Warner is the X factor. Delhi needs to decide who’s going to replace Rishabh Pant. It will be a daunting question.”

DAVID WARNER WILL LEAD DELHI IN IPL 2023

Upon his return to Delhi in IPL 2022, David Warner, who played for Delhi in 2009, performed exceptionally well with 432 runs at a strike rate of 150.52. Warner’s consistency in the tournament has earned him three Orange Caps so far (2015, 2017, 2019), reflecting his outstanding performance.

In addition, the 36-year-old has achieved the fastest 5000-run mark in IPL history in just 135 innings. He is also the third-highest run scorer in IPL history with 5881 runs at an average of 42.01 and a strike rate of 140.69.

Furthermore, David Warner has the record for the most number of fifties in the competition, achieving this feat 54 times.
