England’s white-ball head coach, Matthew Mott, believes that Dawid Malan can make his way into the team for the 2024 World Cup in India.

Dawid Malan has been a consistent performer for England in white-ball cricket. He is a former World No. 1 T20 batter. He missed a major part of the recently concluded T20 World Cup owing to an unfortunate injury.

However, in the previous bilateral series against Australia, he was the biggest positive for the English side. He scored a match-winning knock of 134 runs off 128 deliveries in the first game in Adelaide. But, he’s got very little experience in the one-day format. However, after Eion Morgan’s retirement, Dawid chances of making it into the team have increased.

“Dawid Malan will be a big part of the mixture for the World Cup,” Matthew Mott

England’s white-ball head coach, Matthew Mott, came out in support of the batter. He said that Dawid Malan is a great player who has the ability to score big hundreds.

“Dawid’s a class player, he makes big hundreds,” Mott said. “You can build a side around the way he plays. I think he’s got gears as well”

He further added that he does not want Dawid Malan to get typecast into the anchor role. He can gear up the pace of the game by coming into the lower order as well. Hence, Matthew feels that Dawid Malan can be a crucial part of the England cricket team for the 2024 World Cup.

“That’s something he’s been really keen to make sure that he doesn’t get typecast too much into playing that spine of the innings role – that he can if required up the ante and read the game situation”

“I think he’s done that really well a few times for us. He’ll be a big part of the mixture for that World Cup.”
