New Zealand’s most seasoned pacer Hamish Bennett has decided to call it quits on his international career for his country.

He thanked all his cricket clubs under whom he has played so far.

Bennett has been a part of the New Zealand side since the U19s, the senior men’s team and domestic teams Wellington and Canterbury.

He made his international debut for New Zealand against Bangladesh in 2010 in Mirpur. Coincidentally, his last game was against the same opponent at the same venue in 2021.

His Test debut came alongside Kane Williamson in 2010 against India at Ahmedabad.

Bennett has 33 wickets in ODIs and 10 wickets in T20Is.

He made his domestic debut in 2005 and played for two teams. He has been a part of 12 domestic wins, winning five Plunket Shields, two Ford Trophies, four Super Smash titles and one Super Smash Trophy as Wellington Blaze’s coach.

Bennett was also a part of the 2011 World Cup squad and then was recalled to play two ODIs against India in 2014.

He now wants to step away from the limelight and enjoy the sport grow from the sidelines.

He will however continue to play for the Old Tablelands Cricket Club and will also pursue a career in coaching.
