IPL 2022: Chennai Super Kings face another injury blow as Moeen Ali injures his ankle

Moeen Ali - Chennai Super Kings - CSK

Defending champions Chennai Super Kings are wrought with yet another injury update this time.

Moeen Ali has hurt his ankle during practice and the franchise is awaiting the scans to make sure the injury is not serious.

Because of this, Moeen is in grave danger of missing CSK’s next few matches; against Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Ali played his last game against the Gujarat Titans on April 17th which was a closely fought contest that Gujarat eventually won.

Moeen was not part of the playing XI against Mumbai Indians and Mitchell Santner replaced him in the game.

Ali has been struggling in this year’s IPL as opposed to his excellent performances last year.

He firstly arrived late for the tournament due to his visa hold up that forced him to miss out Chennai Super Kings’ opening match.

In his five matches so far, Moeen has scored only 87 runs with an average of 17.40.

His highest score has been against the Sunrisers Hyderabad which is 48.

Ali has remained wicketless so far with the ball as well and has conceded 68 runs.

Chennai Super Kings are having a below-average performance in the IPL so far. They have won only two games and are at the ninth position in the points table.

They already don’t have the services of Deepak Chahar and Adam Milne who both have suffered injuries.
