In the game of supers, it was Lucknow Super Giants who beat Chennai Super Kings at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

Winning the toss and opting to field first, Lucknow were under a bit of pressure playing against four-time champions CSK.

Chennai had a rocky start yet again as Ruturaj Gaikwad was out making just a single run.

It was then Robin Uthappa and Moeen Ali who anchored CSK’s innings with a good partnership. Uthappa also made a half-century in the process.

Other batters who contributed with the bat were Shivam Dube and Ambati Rayudu.

Finally some hard-hitting from Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni took the score to 210/7.

It looked like Chennai Super Kings will get back to winning ways with this target. But it was not to be as KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock put up a strong first-wicket partnership.

Manish Pandey couldn’t get going as he scored just 5. But then came Evin Lewis, Deepak Hooda and Ayush Badoni who took down the score with 3 balls to spare and won the game by 6 wickets.

Player of the Match

Evin Lewis for his 55* off 23 balls.

Post Match Reactions

Ravindra Jadeja, Chennai Super Kings skipper said that they performed brilliantly with the bat but they didn’t take too many chances on the field. Mentioned that they need to practice more with the wet ball as the dew was not allowing the ball to stick and made it very slippery. Ended by saying that they need to better execute with the ball.

KL Rahul, Lucknow Super Giants captain praised Ravi Bishnoi and his bowling. Added that Badoni is a good find for them this season and he has been batting well since day one. Also mentioned that once you sort of settle in, then it becomes easy for you to put pressure back on the bowlers. Also praised Lewis and told that he had a chat with him and asked him about batting at number three. He hopes that Lewis will benefit the team against spinners in the upcoming matches.
