Delhi Capitals were in great form yesterday as they comfortably beat the Rajasthan Royals by 8 wickets.

This was a must-win match for Delhi so as to keep their playoffs hopes alive.

Rishabh Pant called it right at the toss and decided to bowl first.

Delhi Capitals pretty much dominated the show in the powerplay as they dismissed both openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler.

The majority of the runs for the Royals were scored by Ravichandran Ashwin and Devdutt Paddikal.

While Ashwin made a half-century, Paddikal fell 2 short of his.

The rest of the Royals’ batters did not put up a good show against Delhi’s bowlers.

Rassie van der Dussen made a quickfire 12 from 10 balls.

Rajasthan Royals ended up with a score of 160/6 on the board.

Delhi Capitals needed to get 161 in 120 balls.

In the second innings, Delhi were kept at a low by the Rajasthan bowlers and they even took the wicket of KS Bharat in the very first over.

But, it was the massive partnership between David Warner and Mitchell Marsh that made the game easy for the Capitals.

The final touches were given by skipper Rishabh Pant and thus Delhi Capitals won the game.

Sanju Samson, Rajasthan Royals skipper said that it was quite a disappointing night for them. Added that they fell 15-20 runs short and in the second innings, luck was just not on their side. Mentioned that the wicket was very fast in the first innings. Ended by saying that they will bounce back stronger in the next game.

Rishabh Pant, Delhi Capitals captain said that this could have been a perfect game for them but it fell only inches short to be so. Added that teams can both bat and bowl first on such wickets but bowling first suits them better. Ended by saying that he hopes Shaw returns to the side soon but he is quite sick for now.
