It was a brutal show by Kolkata Knight Riders at Navi Mumbai where they thrashed Mumbai Indians by 52 runs.

Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Firstly, Venkatesh Iyer and Nitish Rana scored an equal amount of runs, that is 43, which helped build up the score of the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Moreover, Ajinkya Rahane and Rinku Singh also played some short innings to take KKR to 165/9 in their 20 overs.

Mumbai Indians needed 166 runs to win the contest.

Ishan Kishan was the only batsman who played and made a half-century.

However, Kolkata Knight Riders completely dominated the second half of the game as they wreaked havoc on Mumbai.

The major wrecker with the ball was Pat Cummins who took 3 wickets along with Andre Russell who took 2 wickets.

Mumbai Indians finished off at 113 in just 17.3 overs and lost the game.

Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians captain, said that they would have chased down 165 easily on any other day. Mentioned that the batting department let them down and the pitch had something for the pacers in it. Added that they just didn’t bat well and it was their fourth game at Navi Mumbai. Ended by saying that all their departments are not clicking at the same time in the same game.

Shreyas Iyer, Kolkata Knight Riders skipper, was relieved to get a win. Credited all his batsmen and bowlers for performing brilliantly in the match. Mentioned that they got a good start in the Powerplay and praised Rana and said that he himself felt comfortable after hitting Kieron Pollard. On Venkatesh Iyer, he said that it was a bit difficult for him to come back into the side. Mentioned that was also in a similar position himself before. Also praised McCullum and all the support staff for always helping the team. Added that the team is now charged up even though they lost games in the middle. Ended by saying that he wants to keep up the good work for his side.
