Punjab Kings had a blast against the Chennai Super Kings as they beat the latter by 11 runs.

Starting with the toss, Chennai Super Kings won it and decided to bowl first.

Shikhar Dhawan played the anchor role throughout the innings for Punjab Kings getting ample support from Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Liam Livingstone.

Dhawan remained not out at 88 and Punjab Kings took their score to a mighty 187/4 in 20 overs.

Chennai Super Kings needed 188 to win the contest.

Ruturaj Gaikwad played the anchor role for a long time in the second innings but was out after making 30.

The star in the second innings was Ambati Rayudu who smashed 78 off 39 balls.

He brought CSK close to winning the game but could not make it till the end.

Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni tried their level best to take CSK through but they too fell in the end and Chennai Super Kings lost the match.

Ravindra Jadeja, Chennai Super Kings skipper said that they did well with the ball in the first innings but they also gave away 10-15 runs extra in the end overs. Added that they couldn’t execute their plans well. Praised Rayudu but added that they should have restricted Punjab to at least 170-175. Ended by saying that they are struggling in the first 6 overs of the game and they will improve upon it and come back strongly.

Mayank Agarwal, Punjab Kings skipper said that they would like a few more tosses to go their way and it’s quite hard when you keep chasing the game right from the start. Praised both Arshdeep and Rabada’s bowling. Felt that these two bowlers took the game in their favour. Mentioned that as a captain he needs to do smart thinking and make the opposition players hit shots on the longer side of the boundary. Added that it has been a great learning experience for him and the team. Ended by saying that it’s important for them to carry forward the winning momentum.

Punjab Kings will be up against Lucknow Super Giants on the 29th of April at MCA Stadium in Pune while Chennai Super Kings will battle it out with Sunrisers Hyderabad on the 1st of May at the same venue.
