Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Delhi Capitals by 16 runs in yesterday’s clash.
Delhi Capitals won the toss and decided to bowl first at the Wankhede Stadium.
It was a run-fest although Royal Challengers Bangalore did not get the start that they wanted.
Both Faf and Anuj were out for paltry scores.
Only 3 batsmen made it for RCB: Glenn Maxwell, Shahbaz Ahmed and Dinesh Karthik.
RCB finished off with 189/5 in their 20 overs.
Delhi Capitals were given the target of 190 to chase down.
Capitals started off well with David Warner and Prithvi Shaw batting at full power and slashing boundaries to all RCB bowlers.
Rishabh Pant chipped in with a contributory 34 runs to further energize the Capitals’ innings.
But then again, the sudden collapse of wickets and lack of partnerships cost Delhi Capitals the game and RCB won it comfortably and are now at 3rd position.

Rishabh Pant, captain of Delhi Capitals said that Warner batted brilliantly which gave the Capitals a very good chance of winning the game. Added that he doesn’t want to put any blame on Mitchell Marsh as it was pretty natural for him to be rusty as it was his first IPL game for Delhi Capitals. Mentioned that they bowled pretty well in the game but Mustafizur Rahman’s over cost them the game badly. Also said that they had planned very well with the ball but Dinesh Karthik batted really well in the end. Ended by saying that they will need to learn from their mistakes and come out stronger in the next game.
Faf du Plessis, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper said that he was not happy with his performance and mentioned that their top order is not performing up to the mark but other batsmen are chipping in which is great for the team. Praised Maxwell for his batting. Was also happy that their plans regarding death bowling bore fruit for them. Also added that it is important to give motivation to players who are not able to perform and added that Dinesh Karthik is in the prime of his form. Ended by saying that dew is a very important factor and that’s why all teams are bowling first.
