Ricky Ponting, Delhi Capitals head coach isolated himself from the team after his family member tested Covid-19 positive.

Ponting, on the advice of the management and medical team, decided to isolate himself from the team for 5-7 days.

Ponting will be joining the Delhi Capitals camp for today’s fixture against the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Delhi Capitals are so far the only team to have returned 6 positive tests.

It all started with the team physio Patrick Farhart testing positive along with several other support staff members.

Two players, Mitchell Marsh and Tim Seifert returned positive results but have now recovered from Covid but will not be joining the playing XI any time soon.

Because of the rapid spread of Covid cases, Delhi Capitals played two fixtures in Mumbai instead of Pune.

The first Covid case to emerge in the Delhi Capitals camp was on April 15 when Farhart tested positive.

As per IPL guidelines if a player or support staff tests positive for Covid-19, then he has to isolate for a minimum of seven days after which they will have to undergo RT-PCR testing on the 6th and 7th days.

Only when they return negative results and display no symptoms, will they be allowed to join their team back.
