IPL 2022: Shimron Hetmyer leaves India for paternity duties

Rajasthan Royals’ swashbuckling batter Shimron Hetmyer has left the camp to be with his wife.

Hetmyer is expecting the birth of his first child and will return as soon as the child is born.

He said that he has left some of his stuff in his room and will return to India soon and see how the IPL is panning out.

Rajasthan Royals are currently third in the points table and have a great chance of making the playoffs.

Hetmyer has been pretty instrumental in many of the Rajasthan Royals’ innings in this season of the IPL.

As the team’s finisher, he has scored 291 runs at an average of 72.

Hetmyer also has a deadly strike rate of 214.28 in overs 17-20.

Hetmyer left Mumbai on Sunday morning after playing another power knock of 31 from 16 balls against Punjab Kings.

Some of the contenders for Hetmyer’s spot are James Neesham, Daryl Mitchell, Karun Nair, Rassie van der Dussen and Nathan Coulter-Nile.

Royals’ next three matches are against Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings respectively.
