Ireland set to tour Zimbabwe for three ODIs and three T20Is

ICC

Ireland men’s team will tour Zimbabwe next year for a three-match T20I and ODI series starting January 12.

Harare Sports Club is the host for the entire series between the two sides.

This tour is going to be a first for both teams after the T20 World Cup as regards international action.

This series is also going to provide some valuable game time to both teams leading up to the 2023 World Cup.

Additionally, the World Cup Qualifier is going to take place in Zimbabwe in the month of June-July 2023.

Zimbabwe is out of the race to secure a place in the 2023 World Cup but Ireland is in a four-way tussle to secure the eighth and final automatic selection spot.

In the 13-team league table, Ireland is currently placed 10th. They have one home series remaining which is against Bangladesh in the summer of 2023.

In order to qualify for the World Cup, Ireland will have to win all three matches and hope that Sri Lanka and South Africa lose all their respective remaining games.

Winning the series will take Ireland to eighth place in the table.

On the other hand, Zimbabwe is in the 12th place in the table and their last Super League Series is against the Netherlands in March 2023.
