Lalit Modi predicts IPL’s rise to No. 1 league in the world

Lalit Modi, the founder and former commissioner of the Indian Premier League, expressed his belief that the IPL will continue to grow and soon become the world’s top sporting league.

As the brainchild of the former BCCI official, the tournament was initially met with skepticism, but it proved to be a huge success and a significant revenue earner. Despite attempts by other cricketing boards to follow its model, none have achieved the IPL’s level of popularity or financial success.

As the IPL celebrated its 1000th match, Modi expressed his gratitude to the fans and stakeholders for their role in making the league what it is and described it as an emotional moment for him.

Seeing IPL grow so much is emotional for me: Lalit Modi

Lalit Modi said:

“I wish to thank them (fans, players, stakeholders and regulators) all for their support. Thank you for making the IPL what it is. It’s really an emotional time. It is amazing to see the IPL grow so fast and become the second-biggest league in the world in terms of value. In terms of viewership, it is No 1. More important than that is the number of youngsters we have seen in the landscape of the country. And the infrastructure that has come up across India. That is the byproduct of the IPL’s growth.”

Despite being banned from BCCI in 2013 for financial irregularities, Lalit Modi still follows the IPL. He has expressed his belief that the league will soon become the world’s number one sporting league. Modi credits the fans for the league’s success and states that it is growing stronger every year. He also mentioned that the IPL is currently second to NFL. And at the current rate of growth, it won’t be long before it surpasses the American football league and becomes the top league in any sport in the world.
