Mumbai Police filed a case against a firm for illegally using pictures of Sachin Tendulkar to advertise products such as fat-burning spray and burner oil. The employees of the firm are now facing charges of cheating, forgery, and defamation. The case has drawn attention to the issue of celebrity endorsement fraud. It is important for people to be aware of this type of fraud. And also to be careful about the products they buy

Tendulkar’s personal assistant, Ramesh Pardhe, filed a complaint regarding the unauthorized use of the cricketer’s pictures in the ads. The firm went a step further and created a website named after the legendary cricketer to promote its products.

According to Pardhe, he first noticed the ads featuring Tendulkar on Facebook on May 5, as mentioned in his statement to Mumbai police. In addition to the pictures, the firm also used audio mimicking Tendulkar’s voice in Instagram ads. This is misleading viewers into thinking that Sachin is endorsing the product.

“Not only did the advertisement for the belly burner oil feature Tendulkar’s picture, but it also said it was ‘recommended by Sachin Tendulkar,’ he said. The link to the ad took me to the website of the company called Shyla Health. I also checked the Instagram account of the company,”

Pardhe said.

Pardhe investigated and discovered that the same company owned another website. The firm was offering products with a promise of a signed T-shirt from Tendulkar. Additionally, the company created a ‘Sachin Health Affiliate Program’ without Tendulkar’s actual involvement.

“As Sachin is not associated in any way with the products, the company is not only misusing his brand but also cheating their own customers,”

A police official said.

The cyber police are currently conducting further investigations to locate the remaining members of the firm. Furthermore, Sachin Tendulkar has not yet commented on the situation and is relying on the police to handle the matter.
