In the IPL 2023, the Delhi Capitals thrashed Royal Challengers Bangalore by seven wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The RCB team batted first, but was restricted to 181/4 by Delhi Capitals’ bowlers. In reply, opener Phil Salt led the way for Delhi Capitals with a breathtaking knock of 87 off 45 balls. Salt formed crucial partnerships with David Warner and Mitchell Marsh, propelling Delhi Capitals to an easy victory in just 16.4 overs.

“It’s nice to perform and win a game for the team. We had a tough start to the competition, but we have won a few games now. And I feel that our momentum is building nicely. We’ve put the bowlers in difficult situations at times during the tournament and they’ve always stood up. So it was good for the batting unit to go out there and play so freely against one of the strongest sides in the competition,”
Salt said.
He further added:
“I was very clear about where I was going to hit the ball while batting against the spinners. We also tried to take down RCB’s best bowlers. We don’t need to change what we are doing at the moment. It’s about repeating our performances with the bat and ball. And keep being fearless.”
After being awarded Player of the Match, Phil Salt shared his batting strategy against RCB, highlighting how he focused on hitting against spinners and taking down their best bowlers. He also expressed the need to maintain their momentum and continue being fearless in their future matches. Delhi Capitals are scheduled to face Chennai Super Kings in their upcoming game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, while Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, a day earlier.
