Former India team head coach, Ravi Shastri recently gave his critique as to who will be the next all-rounder for the team.

He wants someone who can bring the best of both worlds and become an automatic choice in the national side.

According to Shastri, Hardik Pandya may not be able to make the cut in the T20 side for India based purely as a batsman. He will have to bring in his bowling element into the mix to make him an option.

He feels that if Pandya bowls well in the IPL, he can make himself worthy of selection.

Hardik has been out of the Indian squad since last year’s T20 World Cup in the UAE. His back injury doesn’t allow him to take on the heavy workload of bowling.

Shastri will also be focusing on India’s next all-format captain.

It’s because he is of the opinion that India needs to have a long-term option in mind as a captain who can lead the team for probably 2 to 3 years down the line.

Rohit Sharma will not remain captain for long nor can Kohli come back as captain.

Thus, on Shastri’s list are Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and also, Hardik Pandya.
