Ambati Rayudu

The highly anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 concluded with an exhilarating last-over showdown between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at Narendra Modi Stadium. After 73 intense games, CSK emerged victorious, securing their fifth championship and equalling the Mumbai Indians as the most successful team in the tournament’s 16-season history. In a rain-affected run chase, CSK managed to chase down the target of 171 runs on the final delivery. Thanks to the brilliant finishing touches by Ravindra Jadeja. The CSK batting lineup showcased a collective effort, with all the batsmen making crucial contributions. One standout performer was Ambati Rayudu, who played a vital inning of 19 off 8 balls in the grand finale.

Mohammad Kaif, former Indian cricketer, lauded Rayudu’s impactful knock during the final. Kaif emphasized that Rayudu’s inning was a game-changer, especially considering it was his last match. Rayudu made an explosive start, smashing 16 runs off the first three balls he faced against Mohit Sharma.

Speaking on Star Sports’ Cricket Live, Kaif not only praised Rayudu but also hailed his backfoot six as the shot of the tournament. Kaif compared it to the iconic six hit by Virat Kohli against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup, highlighting the similarity in their execution.

Rayudu’s remarkable performance and his memorable shot added to the excitement and intensity of the IPL 2023’s thrilling conclusion.

Ambati Rayudu looked emotional but full credit to him for ending his IPL career on such a high: Kaif

“That impactful knock from Ambati Rayudu was the game-changing moment. His innings was very crucial in the context of the game. The six he hit going on the back foot was the shot of the tournament for me. It was identical to that iconic six which Virat Kohli hit in the T20 World Cup against Pakistan in Melbourne last year. Rayudu looked emotional but full credit to him for ending his IPL career on such a high,”
