NEW ZEALAND

New Zealand Cricket team is a team that plays cricket for the country of New Zealand.  They played their first test match in the year 1930 against England in Christchurch. Moreover, New Zealand became the fifth country to play red ball cricket. They played their first white ball game (ODI) in 1972-73 against Pakistan at Christchurch. They are also known as the Blackcaps.

The first New Zealand team faced New South Wales at Lancaster Park in Christchurch from February 15–17, 1894. The New South Wales defeated them by 160 runs. Moreover, New Zealand won the lone game against New South Wales by 142 runs in 1895–96, marking its first triumph. Around the end of 1894, the New Zealand Cricket Council was established.
Specifically, the star-studded Australia squad that New Zealand faced in its first two internationals (not Tests) in 1904-05 included players like Victor Trumper, Warwick Armstrong, and Clem Hill. The second match, which New Zealand lost by an innings and 358 runs, was not saved by rain, and it resulted in the second-largest defeat in  first-class history.

ODI World Cup Records

The team reached the semifinal in 2011 and 2007 as well, but lost to Sri Lanka in both semifinals. Moreover, they went to the final of the World Cup in 2015. Brendon McCullum was the captain of the side. However, they lost to the powerful Australian team at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

In the 2019 World Cup, they lost to England in the epic final at Lords by ‘barest of margins’. The match tied and went to the super over. Super over was also tied which meant that England won the match on the basis of more boundaries scored.
