IPL franchise Punjab Kings are looking to set their eyes on the IPL title this year.
They have purchased some fantastic players and also have a good coaching staff ahead of the season.
Mayank Agarwal will lead the squad. KL Rahul parted ways with the franchise last year and will now be leading the newly inducted Lucknow Super Giants.
The franchise’s former name was Kings XI Punjab.
They decided to change it in 2020 and came up with Punjab Kings hoping for a turn in fortunes.
But, they remained at the 6th spot in both 2020 and 2021 editions of the IPL.
Thus, this year the franchise has decided to overhaul itself completely.
They have recently secured the services of former England batsman Julian Ross Wood as a batting consultant.
The Punjab Kings were very close to winning the title in 2014.
They were outclassed by the Kolkata Knight Riders who won their second title of the tournament.
With the introduction of Julian Ross, fans are hoping for a better turnaround for the Punjab Kings.
A source of the Punjab Kings told PTI that Ross is a very experienced batter and coach in English county cricket.
The source also added that it was Jonty Rhodes who first spotted him and wanted him for the franchise straightaway.
Punjab Kings had wanted Wood for a very long time but he was not available due to one or another reason.
