It was a low-scoring affair at the DY Patil Stadium today. Kolkata Knight Riders looked clueless to the bowling of Royal Challengers Bangalore.

RCB won the toss and decided to bowl first at Navi Mumbai.

None of the KKR batsmen got going and were falling prey to the RCB bowlers.

Andre Russell showed some resistance at the end of the innings along with Umesh Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy.

Kolkata Knight Riders were bowled out for just 128.

It was a pretty easy score for the Royal Challengers Bangalore to chase.

But it was not to be as Kolkata jumped right back into the game with quick wickets. They took a total of 7 wickets.

But in the last over of the innings, Dinesh Karthik finished things off for RCB.

Player of the Match

Wanindu Hasranga for his 4/20 off 4 overs and 4 (3).

Post Match Reactions

Shreyas Iyer, KKR skipper said that this was a defining game for the team and that this game was very exciting for them. Added that the wicket was a bit dicey at the start and they wanted to make full use of it but their execution was rather poor today. He also praised Wanindu Hasranga and his bowling and said that they decided to take on him like an off-spinner but things didn’t work out in that direction.

Faf du Plessis, RCB skipper was happy with the performance of his team but called it a victory by a very small margin. Praised Kolkata’s two-seamers for bowling very well in the Powerplay overs. Told that the ball moved a little and there was much bounce on the pitch. He added that 2-3 days ago it was a high-scoring affair and today it was a low-scoring one. Wanted a more clinical performance from the team but still considers a win as a win. He also termed Karthik as ice-cool just like MS Dhoni and said that the team communication is going very well and that he has been receiving a lot of inputs from all members.
