IPL 2023 final to be held in Ahmedabad, BCCI unveils schedule

Indian Premier League

On Friday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the schedule and venue details for the playoffs and final of the 16th edition of the IPL.

The MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai will host Qualifier 1 and Eliminator on May 23 and May 24, respectively. On the other hand, the Qualifier 2 and the final will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The matches will take place on May 26 and May 28, respectively.

Ahmedabad will host the final for the second time in a row. It previously hosted the final of the 2022 edition of the tournament. In that final, Gujarat Titans defeated Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets. In 2023, Gujarat Titans will have the opportunity to make history by becoming the third team to win the IPL trophy in consecutive years.

RAJASTHAN ROYALS TOP THE POINTS TABLE AT THE MOMENT

The defending champions have won three out of their five matches in the ongoing IPL season. This puts them in fourth place on the Points Table. Rajasthan Royals are currently leading the table, followed by Lucknow Super Giants in second place. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals are at the bottom of the table with two points, having lost all five of their matches so far. Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad have each won two games, putting them in eighth and ninth places, respectively.

Chennai Super Kings are currently in third place on the Points Table. Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians, and Punjab Kings all tied at six points each. This places them in fifth, sixth, and seventh places, respectively.

It is worth noting that if Chennai Super Kings make it to the playoffs, MS Dhoni could play his last professional game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. So, everyone has their eyes on CSK.
