Arijit Singh performed at the sixteenth Indian Premier League opening ceremony on March 31. Currently, MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings and Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans are playing the first match of the season. After the ceremony, the team captains met with the performers. Arijit, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Rashmika Mandanna were among them. When Dhoni and Arijit met, the singer touched the feet of the legendary cricketer as a gesture of gratitude. Dhoni embraced Arijit, and fans were quick to take notice of the heartwarming moment.
Arijit Singh stole the show in the opening ceremony
The IPL opening ceremony held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad was a grand affair. Arijit Singh, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Rashmika Mandanna were the main highlights of the show. Arijit Singh mesmerized the audience with his soulful rendition of popular Bollywood songs such as Channa Mereya, Apna Banale, Kabira, Kitna Chahne Lage Hum, Namah Shivay, Dance Ka Bhoot Chadheya, Galat, Twist, Tere Pyaar Mein, Ghoongro Toot Gaye, Hawayein, Namah Om, and more. Hence, the event was a huge success and received positive reviews from the audience.
In the match, Gujarat skipper Hardik won the toss and elected to field first, putting Dhoni’s CSK into bat. The opening batsman Devon Conway was dismissed cheaply, providing a major setback to Chennai in the powerplay. However, Ruturaj Gaikwad stabilized the innings and scored 51 runs in the first six overs.
Moeen Ali played an aggressive knock of 23 runs off 17 balls, but was caught out by Rashid Khan on the second-last ball of the powerplay. Ben Stokes followed suit, giving Rashid his second wicket.
Gujarat’s bowlers Rashid, Mohammed Shami, and Alzarri Joseph took two wickets each, and IPL debutant Joshua Little claimed one wicket, restricting the visitors to a total of 178/7 at the end of 20 overs.
The match was intense, and both teams fought hard to gain an advantage. However, with the bowling prowess of Gujarat, they managed to keep the visitors’ score to a respectable total. So, the game’s result remained uncertain until the end, keeping the spectators at the edge of their seats.
