Tom Moody left amazed by Suryakumar Yadav’s unique six

Tom Moody was left amazed by SKY’s six against Shami. On Friday night, Suryakumar Yadav, the top scorer for the Mumbai Indians, showcased his exceptional power-hitting ability, scoring his first IPL century by smashing Gujarat Titans’ bowlers all over the ground. Although Suryakumar has earned a lot of accolades for his unique shot selection over the years, he had to wait 4053 days before scoring his first IPL hundred as he hit an unbeaten 103 off 49 balls.

During his innings, Suryakumar exhibited various shots, but his six against Mohammed Shami in the 19th over of the first innings left many bewildered. The legendary Sachin Tendulkar was also seated in the dugout and was seen trying to replicate the shot, after which he took to social media to appreciate it.

Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody also expressed his surprise, stating that he had never seen any player hit the ball in such a manner. In an effort to score as many runs as possible, Suryakumar intentionally chopped the ball over short third after Shami had attempted to pitch the delivery wide outside off.

Never seen something like that ever in my life: Moody

With a deceptive shot, Suryakumar Yadav gave the impression of hitting the ball along the ground, but at the last moment, he rotated his wrist, and the ball went over the fence for a six.

“That particular ball, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a six hit over third man with a vertical bat. I’ve seen hit with a horizontal bat, a cut shot going over third man. I’ve never seen a six hit with a vertical bat off the middle of the bat, I’ve even seen a thick-edge fly. Never seen it before in my life!,”

Moody said.

“I’ve seen nearly 10 million balls bowled in my lifetime in all forms of the game, and I’ve never seen that before. It was totally mint. It was in his head, and no one else’s head, that he was capable of doing that,”

he further added.
