IPL franchise, Mumbai Indians’ pacer, Akash Madhwal was the star of the show against the Gujarat Titans yesterday.
Not only did he bowl his full quota of overs, but he also took three wickets and gave away only 31 runs in the process.
Additionally, in the first innings, it was SKY’s brilliance that took the hosts to a massive total of 218 runs.
Furthermore, the task of chasing down 219 became quite tough for the defending champions who just threw away their wickets.
Meanwhile, Madhwal got the scalps of Shubman Gill, Wriddhiman Saha, and David Miller and created a huge stir in the GT camp.
There was also another notable performance from the Gujarat Titans when Rashid Khan rained boundaries at the Wankhede towards the end of the second innings.
But, Madhwal also made heads turn up after his wonderful performance with the ball.
At the post-match presentation, Madhwal spoke about Rohit Sharma’s advice to him during the game,
I have bowled previously in the dew, so it wasn’t difficult; we have practised for such things. Rohit asked me to start with hard-length balls and then concentrate on accuracy.
Madhwal also praises SKY and says he is happy to be on the same team as him
Meanwhile, Madhwal was also full of praise for his Mumbai Indians teammate, Suryakumar Yadav.
In the game, SKY smashed 103* from 49 balls which gave MI a major boost in the game.
Says Madhwal on Surya,
He always does that in the nets as well. We are happy to be on the same team as him. I am just looking to continue working hard on my skills. I want to work harder and continue doing well in the next few matches.
After the 27-run win over Gujarat, Mumbai is now in 3rd place with 14 points from 12 games and will now make a strong case for themselves in the upcoming matches.
