On March 17, India and Australia kicked off their three-match ODI series, following the conclusion of the 2023 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Australia, after losing the toss, batted first. Unfortunately, they suffered a setback early on with the dismissal of Travis Head. However, Mitchell Marsh stepped up and smashed a brilliant 81 off just 65 deliveries. Despite his heroics, the other batsmen could not provide much support, and the team was all out for a below-par score of 188. Aakash Chopra, a former Indian cricketer, shared his views on Australia’s batting during the first match of the three-match ODI series against India. He stated that, apart from Marsh, the Australian batters failed to impress as they kept losing wickets consistently.

KL PROVED HIS WORTH: AAKASH

Aakash Chopra said:

“David Warner and Alex Carey were not available for Australia, but the batting looked slightly 50-50. How will it work out if it happens on such pitches? Mitchell Marsh hit, he batted extremely well, but the wickets kept falling from the other end.”

“Mitchell Marsh scored 81, and the entire team scored 188. You say there is a lot of depth in batting and the entire team drowned in that depth. When 188 runs are scored, you feel they are less, but when you see the pitch, you think there is some problem as the opposition team have scored only 188,”

Chopra further added.

Mitchell Starc’s spell was a tough one for India as they started chasing the target. India lost Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav quickly, and the pressure started to build up.

However, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja’s impressive partnership ensured that India bounced back. KL Rahul, who was struggling with his form, played an unbeaten knock of 75 runs, which helped India to seal the match.
