Former India opener Aakash Chopra showed his surprise when he saw Rohit Sharma giving only a single over to Mohammed Shami.

On his YouTube channel, Chopra said that he thought that Shami will be given an extended run in the warm-up game.

Shami came on to bowl in the final over of the match and did brilliantly as India eked out a 6-run win over Australia.

Even Chopra was happy with Shami’s death bowling which is why he said,

Mohammed Shami got just six deliveries. That’s all you allowed him to bowl. We were all surprised by that. Warm-up matches are generally used to try different things and give chances to your players.

Adding further, Chopra said,

We were all hoping that Shami would get an over, but the skipper didn’t do that. It looked as if India wouldn’t be able to win the game when Australia needed 11 off six balls.

Chopra also said that although Shami got a single over to bowl yesterday, he made full use of the opportunity.

It took just six balls for Mohammed Shami to show the world that he was right here. It was like him saying that Jasprit Bumrah might not be there, but I am here.

Australia were looking all set to finish the game as they required only 11 from six. But, Shami was impactful in the final over.

Further, Chopra also commented on the brilliant performance of Harshal Patel.

He said that by dismissing Aaron Finch in his third over, Harshal has gained a lot of confidence.

Harshal Patel was expensive in his first two overs. However, he was able to pick up the crucial wicket of Aaron Finch in his third over. When the slower one hits the fuller length and there’s a dip, that’s when you know that Harshal is in solid form. He is back in form.

The pacer bowled in the correct areas and used his go-to slower deliveries that dented Australia’s chances of winning the game.

Patel has been struggling with his form of late since incurring a rib injury last month. Fans were seriously concerned over his form as he was proving to be a very expensive bowler.

However, with this performance, Harshal is looking a lot like his older version and will hope to perform well against Pakistan.
