Aakash Chopra’s advice to SRH: Spend your money wisely

Aakash Chopra

IPL franchise and 2016 champions, Sunrisers Hyderabad has the highest purse of money to spend in the mini-auction.

They have let off some great players like skipper Kane Williamson, keeper Nicholas Pooran, and leggie Rashid Khan.

The franchise is yet to name a skipper for the side and contemplating a name.

On the other hand, former India batsman, Aakash Chopra feels that SRH will have to spend their money wisely during the mini-auction at Kochi, or else it will be of no use.

SRH have 13 slots to fill in their squad, four of which have been reserved for overseas players.

The overseas players that SRH can make a bid for are Sam Curran, Cameron Green, and Ben Stokes.

Currently, SRH has a purse of 42.25 crores with which they will enter the auction.

Chopra suggests players that SRH should go for in the mini-auction

Chopra also feels that ever since SRH let off Rashid Khan from their squad, they are finding it tough to get spinners in their squad.

That’s why he says that SRH will have to make some wise decisions with their money when they start bidding at the auction.

Chopra has also suggested that the franchise can go for Zimbabwe mystery spinner Sikandar Raza who was exceptional in the T20 World Cup this year.

The focus for Hyderabad should probably be on getting both Ben Stokes and Cameron Green. If not Green, then they might go hard on Curran. They have a lot of money but they will need to spend it wisely, or else there’s no point.

Adds Chopra,

Ever since they let Rashid Khan go, spinners have been a problem. They can go for Sikandar Raza, or Indian options like Amit Mishra and Piyush Chawla.

SRH’s list of retained players

Rahul Tripathi, Glenn Phillips, Abhishek Sharma, Aiden Markram, Abdul Samad, Washington Sundar, Marco Jansen, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik, T Natarajan, Kartik Tyagi, Fazalhaq Farooqi
