Adelaide Strikers pick Rashid Khan and Jamie Overton in BBL draft for 13th season.
Rashid Khan to play for Adelaide Strikers
“I wouldn’t have been allowed back into South Australia. Look, Rashid will be available for a fair chunk of the BBL. So, it was a no-brainer for us. I think for any team if Rashid Khan is available, you will look forward to picking him,”. Gillespie said after signing Rashid Khan for their team.
Furthermore, the Adelaide Strikers also got England’s bowling all rounder Jamie Overton for the team in the 13th season of BBL. Jamie Overton won the player of the year award in The Hundred league in England. The England allrounder has been part of 109 T20 matches at various league. In the 109 matches, he got 70 wickets and also 987 runs at a strike rate of 174.07 in the T20 format.
However, Rashid Khan and many other his Afghanistan team mates had a plan to boycott the BBL participation. Later, the decision has reconsidered and changed later on. The reason to Boycott was because of the Australian team not coming to Afghanistan tour due to Taliban control over there. Adelaide Strikers want to perform well in the 13th season.
