INTERNATIONAL CRICKET

All boards have not signed the MPA as of now, says Barclay

ICC

The ICC is all set to release its media rights tender in mid-June.

But, one major roadblock has occurred for the international body and it’s the signing of the Members Participation Agreement or MPA.

According to sources, it is understood that the boards that have not signed up so far are BCCI and PCB.

Barclay in an interview said that not all member boards have signed the agreement.

The point in question is the ICC’s allocation of the 2025 Champions Trophy to Pakistan which India is not liking at the moment.

But, Barclay has given assurance that all the teams will participate in the global event as they have spread the events all around the world, including Pakistan.

In the 2024-31 cycle of the ICC, there are about 8 global events.

The bidders will have the option to choose between four and eight years but there is still some confusion regarding the issue.

Barclay has cleared the air on this and said that they want to provide all the broadcasters with some amount of flexibility.

As per reports, the ICC media rights will be auctioned off at a very high price just like the IPL.
