Former Indian head coach, Ravi Shastri gave a blunt reply to a journalist when asked to lay down his views on Virat vs Rohit debate.

Virat vs Rohit debate has been doing the rounds for a long time. Ever since the rumor circulated of a rift between the two stalwarts, the fans have been divided. The appointment of Rohit Sharma as India’s captain following the abrupt departure of Virat Kohli has only added fuel to the fire.

Fans have created an imaginary rivalry between the two batters. The respective fan clubs are often engaged in social medial wars from time to time. Recently, journalist Vimal Kumar sat down to interview Ravi Shastri. Shastri was asked to address the Virat vs Rohit debate. Ravi Shastri stayed as India’s head coach for 5 years and has an inside observation of the relationship that the two batters share.

“I don’t have the time for this,” Ravi Shastri plays down Virat vs Rohit debate

Ravi Shastri shut down a journalist while addressing the Virat vs Rohit debate. He asserted that everything is fine between the two and that the debate is just time pass for the fans. Ravi Shastri added that they have good partnerships together and fans are just stretching the topic for no reason.

“To hell with them. All of this is merely time pass for you guys. I don’t have the time for this. Everything is fine. There is good tuning between them. Everything is first-class. There was a 100-run partnership in between but you guys are stretching it. Keep on doing it. All of this is a very trivial matter,”

Ravi Shastri further went on to say that Virat Kohli’s innings against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2022 was Kohli’s best innings of his T20 career. He said that the innings were special because the rivals were Pakistan. Moreover, Kohli pulled India from a gruesome situation and magically won the game.

“I think in his career, that will be one of his finest T20 innings. No doubt about it, because the stage was that big. It was against Pakistan, the match was stuck for India, so to score runs there under pressure is a big thing. I don’t need to say anything. The world has seen it, they will judge it and he will put it as one of his best,”
