Andrew McDonald to stay back in Australia after testing positive for Covid-19

Newly-appointed head coach of Australia’s men’s team, Andrew McDonald has tested positive for Covid-19.

He will stay back in Australia for seven days as told by Cricket Australia.

Australia will be touring Sri Lanka after six years to play a white-ball series comprising 3 T20Is and 5 ODIs.

In the absence of McDonald, Michael Di Venuto will be coaching the Australian side.

Importantly, all the support staff will be starting their new roles full-time against Sri Lanka.

Moreover, the series is scheduled to go ahead as planned and games will be played under lights.

Australia will play a 2-Test match series against Sri Lanka starting on June 29.

McDonald will become available for the second T20I against Sri Lanka.

Additionally, there will also be a warm-up match between Australia A and Sri Lanka A before the start of the Test series.

Moreover, McDonald wants all of his coaching team to be able to manage their workload well in the next four years.
