India won at Nagpur courtesy of stellar performances from Ashwin and Jadeja. Because of their great performances, they improved their test rankings.
Ashwin took eight wickets in the match, and he is now ranked in the second position. At the top is Pat Cummins, the captain of the Australia team. This is the closest Ashwin has come to being ranked first since 2017.
Jadeja also took seven wickets and scored 50 runs in the match. Because of his good performance, he moved up to the 16th position in the rankings. Both Ashwin and Jadeja must be very pleased about their success.
ASHWIN CLAIMED HIS 450th WICKET IN NAGPUR
Jadeja and Ashwin are the top two all-rounders in the world for Test cricket. Jasprit Bumrah is also an important player, but he has not played since last September due to a lower back injury. He is ranked fifth in the world for Test bowling.
India’s captain Rohit Sharma scored a century in the first innings in Nagpur, and this helped him move up two spots in the Test batting chart. He is now ranked eighth in the world.

Before this, India was already ranked number one in T20 cricket. They had achieved this position earlier. India also recently became number one in ODI cricket. They won a series against New Zealand last month to reach this position.
Axar Patel has moved up six spots to seventh in the Test all-rounder rankings. He achieved this after playing an important inning in a match where India were struggling. Axar Patel came to bat when India were at 240 for 7. He played patiently and scored 84 runs, which was his highest score in Test cricket.
The next match between India and Australia will be played in New Delhi from Friday, where the trio of Jadeja, Ashwin, and Axar will be crucial for India.
