Ashwin leapfrogs James Anderson as the No.1 Test bowler

Ashwin

India’s Ravichandran Ashwin has grabbed the top spot once again in the ICC’s Test bowlers rankings.

He has now beaten England’s James Anderson to claim the spot after a long time after his stellar performances in the second Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test.

On the other hand, Anderson has now claimed second place in the rankings because of a shocking loss to New Zealand by one run in the second Test.

Australia’s Pat Cummins is now in third place after Ashwin moves up the ladder in the rankings.

Meanwhile, in the second Test, Ashwin took 6 wickets that put India right in the driver’s seat.

Ashwin first became No.1 back in 2015 for India in Test cricket.

Additionally, he has been India’s go-to bowler as well when it comes to Tests. He has always been a proven match-winner for the team in recent years.

Along with Ravindra Jadeja, the spin twins have the capability to demolish any Test side of the world.

India on the backfoot in the third Test; depending on Ashwin and Jadeja to deliver once again

In the ongoing third Test of the series, India was bowled out for a paltry 109 runs by Australia on Day 1.

Additionally, the Aussie spinners proved too much for the Indian batters to handle.

Thus, India will bank heavily on Ashwin and Jadeja to give quality performances for them if they want to win this Test.

On the other hand, Australia’s top-order batters found it very easy to bat in their first innings as they lost the only wicket of Travis Head.

Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne made merry of the Indian bowlers as they finished the trail and put Australia in the lead.

That’s why Ashwin and Jadeja need to put in their expertise yet again for India in order to ensure that they win this Test as well.
