Australia Women’s Cricket Team beat England Women’s Team by a margin of 27 runs in the 1st ODI at Canberra.

It was Beth Mooney’s superb batting and young pacer Darcie Brown who put early pressure on England.

The win has given Australia women an 8-4 lead over England in the Ashes and has ensured that they retain the title.

Australia got to 205/9 after Mooney made a fighting 73 that put Australia Women a good enough target to defend.

England batters didn’t get much of a good start as they lost Heather Knight for a duck.

Nat Sciver tried to build up the innings with her batting but she too fell and England still needed 103 runs to win.

England’s last pair of Katherine Brunt and Kate Cross kept some hope alive for England but it was just too much pressure for England.

Mooney also got good support from Alana King as the former was losing partners at the other end.

For England, it was Katherine Brunt and Kate Cross who took 3 wickets apiece.

They now have two ODIs left to play. Australia has so far dominated England in the series.
