BCCI allows Bumrah to make a return to cricket on his time

India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been given a reprieve by the BCCI as per the latest report.

Now, Bumrah can choose the time at which he wants to make a comeback to the Indian squad.

Since September 2022, Bumrah has been out of the Indian squad because of a back injury he picked up.

He was added for the home series against Sri Lanka just six days ago, but just a day before the match, he was pulled back by the BCCI.

BCCI has made an exception in the case of Bumrah.

Which is why the BCCI has decided to be extremely cautious with India’s best pacer.

According to a BCCI source,

It’s his body and Bumrah is the best judge of it. He was named in the squad but it was never imposed on him that he must play this series. It has been left to him to decide if he is absolutely ready to go full throttle in an international game.

BCCI wants Bumrah fit for at least three Tests against Australia

However, the board wants Bumrah to participate in the Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.

India is currently second in the World Test Championship points table and a win against Australia in the series will ensure they will play the final in June this year.

That is why Bumrah has been asked to prepare himself well for the upcoming Test series.

As things stand now, he has been told that the team needs him for the Test series at home against Australia next month. He has been asked to prepare himself to play at least three Tests against Australia, be available for the World Test Championship Final in June if India qualify, and then the ODI World Cup in India in Oct-Nov this year. A few ODI matches before the World Cup can also suffice.

Adding further, the source says,

Bumrah is an exception. He is too good a bowler and doesn’t need much time to hit his stride. Opponents are always wary of him. He will be played if he feels 100 per cent about himself.
