The exclusion of Sarfaraz Khan created a lot of stir among everyone. Sarfaraz Khan has been in tremendous touch since his return to the Mumbai side.

The Mumbai batter is only behind the great Don Bradman in terms of the first class average. He has an average in the 80s and has scored over 900 runs in the tournament.

His Mumbai teammate Suryakumar Yadav and Under 19 captain Ishan Kishan were selected ahead of him in the squad for the Border Gavaskar Trophy for the first 2 tests. It was disappointing to not see Sarfaraz’s name in the squad despite scoring tons of runs in domestic competition.

A Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) selector has finally spoken about the real reason behind the exclusion of the 23-year-old batter. He said that veterans Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Rohit Sharma are important for the side.

The newcomer Shreyas Iyer has proved himself with consistent performances and KL Rahul and Shubhman Gill have great ability with the bat.

The selector said that they also need to look at the balance of the side and team composition.

“Kohli is still a match-winner. Cheteshwar Pujara brings stability to batting. Rohit Sharma is an excellent leader and a fabulous bat. Shreyas Iyer has been consistent. Shubhman Gill and K.L. Rahul have the genuine ability,” the BCCI selector said.

The BCCI selector said that Sarfaraz Khan is on the selectors’ radar and he will definitely get his chance.

“He is certainly on our radar. In due course, he will get his due. While picking the team, we have to consider things like composition and balance,” he said.
