Bengaluru to host Ranji Trophy matches in June

In an unofficial statement, it has come forward that Bengaluru might host the remainder of the Ranji Trophy matches.

The BCCI has not yet finalized this officially but has taken the decision internally as the city is conducive weather-wise.

Bengaluru experiences the monsoon season only around July. The rains hit the state in mid-June and reach the city by July.

The summers in Bengaluru too are bearable and not too hot, thus the knockout phase of the tournament can be played there without any hiccups.

This year, there are 38 teams in the tournament so the number of games is 64, with 57 already completed.

The tournament was witnessed in nine cities this year- Rajkot, Cuttack, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Trivandrum, Delhi, Haryana, Guwahati and Kolkata.

The teams that have qualified for the next round are Madhya Pradesh, Bengal, Karnataka, Mumbai, Uttarakhand, Punjab Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.

In other news, the BCCI has also decided to hold the Under-25 CK Nayudu Trophy from March 22.

The venues for this tournament are Bengaluru, Surat, Trivandrum, Rajkot, Jaipur, Delhi, Vijaywada, Pondicherry and Cuttack.
