Border-Gavaskar Trophy can see a lot of records getting shattered

This edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy holds significant weight for both teams. Their chances of reaching the final of the ICC World Test Championship 2021–23 depending on the results of these next four matches.

Kohli, Pujara, and Smith aim to establish remarkable batting records in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Kohli will aim to make a successful comeback in Test cricket and will be desperate to perform well in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. He will seek to break a few records in the four-match series. Kohli will play in the first Test at Nagpur on Thursday. He’ll be eager to overcome his forgetful series in Bangladesh. He stands just 64 runs away from reaching the milestone of 25,000 runs in international cricket. He’ll become only the second Indian to achieve this feat. He has accumulated 3,847 runs in 46 home matches. So, reaching the milestone of 4000 runs will also be one of Kohli’s aims too.

Cheteshwar Pujara who is known for his consistency against Australia at home has scored 900 runs in 16 innings. Steve Smith, Kohli’s rival, aims to break multiple records in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He stands just one six away from hitting 50 maximums in Test cricket. In addition to this, he could also become the fastest batter to complete 9,000 runs in Test cricket. Smith boasts an average of 60.89 and has scored 8,647 runs in 92 Test matches for Australia.

Starting on Thursday, February 9, the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 will take place at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. After that, the teams will move on to the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, where they will compete from February 17-21. Then, from March 1-5, the third test will be held at the HPCA stadium in Dharamshala. Finally, the teams will travel to Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium for the final match, which will occur from March 9-13.
