Call on Rohit’s fitness to be taken later by the BCCI

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has provided an update on skipper Rohit Sharma’s availability for the Bangladesh Test series.

Shah has echoed similar views to head coach Rahul Dravid and says that the decision will be taken later on.

Rohit is not going to be a part of the third and final ODI against Bangladesh.

He will consult a specialist regarding his injury.

The Test series against Bangladesh is going to start on December 14.

BCCI update on Rohit Sharma’s fitness

Says Shah,

The BCCI Medical Team assessed him and he underwent scans at a local hospital in Dhaka. He has flown to Mumbai for specialist consultation and will miss the final ODI. A call on his availability for the upcoming Test series will be taken later.

Rohit suffered a massive dislocation of his thumb along with a cut during the second ODI.

Now only a miracle can heal Rohit in time for the Test series.

BCCI has not revealed any further information on India’s skipper and chose to guard their secrets.

In the second ODI, Rohit came out to bat with a heavily taped-up thumb.

That’s why the BCCI is not going to take any further risks in playing Rohit for the Test series.

India has a packed home schedule against New Zealand, Sri Lanka, and Australia and that’s why the management will have to keep the workload of all the players in mind.

If Rohit doesn’t recover in time for the series, KL Rahul will captain the side and Abhimanyu Easwaran will be roped in.

There are other injury concerns regarding Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammad Shami who have not been a part of the ODI squad.

If they also don’t come on time, then Navdeep Saini, Mukesh Kumar, and Saurabh Kumar may get a chance in the Test team.
