Capri Globals Director Rajesh Sharma unveils the name of the franchise

Capri Global Holdings Private Limited bid for a team in the Women’s IPL and is one of the five teams that won the bid to form an IPL team. They bagged the rights at INR 757 crore and have named their team as ‘Lucknow Warriors’. Rajesh Sharma revealed the name of the franchise. 

Rakesh Sharma, Managing Director of Capri Global Holdings Private Limited said that Women’s IPL gives them the opportunity to remove gender bias from Sports. He also said that Women’s IPL is an iconic and historic moment in the history of sports.

Rajesh Sharma said 

“While growing our foothold in Sports, the Women’s Premier League provides a platform for us to showcase our many initiatives focused on improving gender inequity, such as our women-focused product Wishwas Loans, policies to include women as co-signer to increase agency in Home Loans or via our CSR activities that focus on women emancipation in villages across India.

He also said that the aim of the group is to break stereotypes. Rajesh Sharma said that their aim is to provide athletes and women inspiration in all walks of life. 

“We are extremely proud to be a part of this historic moment in cricket, especially in being able to extend our support to some of the tremendously talented women in sports. Our aim is to provide inspiration to athletes and women in all walks of life, while breaking stereotypes,” said Sharma.

The auction is likely to take place on the 10th or 11th of February. The WPL will start in the first week of March and will continue till 24th March.
