Chahal becomes the joint-highest wicket-taker in IPL history

Yuzvendra Chahal

Rajasthan Royals’ spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal has now claimed the number one spot in the list of highest wicket-takers in the IPL.

Yesterday’s clash between RR and SRH proved to be a thrilling one as the Orange Army walked away with the win.

After scoring 214 runs on the board, RR was pretty confident of defending the score but was in for a surprise.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batters replied in the same fashion as them and some heroics from Glenn Phillips towards the end sealed the game for SRH.

Phillips took on Kuldip Yadav and smashed him 22 runs when 41 runs were required off the last two overs.

Meanwhile, Chahal took four wickets in the game and gave away only 29 runs from his four overs.

Therefore, he has now joined former Chennai Super Kings all-rounder, Dwayne Bravo as the joint-highest wicket-taker in IPL history.

Furthermore, in just 142 games, Chahal has scalped 183 wickets and is now sharing this list with the likes of Bravo, Ravichandran Ashwin, Piyush Chawla, and Amit Mishra.

Currently, with 17 wickets in the ongoing season, Chahal is in 5th place in the purple cap holders list as well.

Thus, he will now be keen to continue delivering for his team in a similar fashion as well for the remaining games.

SRH batters play aggressively against Rajasthan Royals

In the game, Sunrisers Hyderabad started on a good note with Anmolpreet Singh and Abhishek Sharma hitting boundaries.

Both of them gave a good start to the game and scored 33 and 55 runs respectively. Additionally, Tripathi chipped in with 47 runs from 29 balls.

When SRH needed 41 runs in two overs, Phillips hit Kuldip Yadav for three sixes in the first three balls of the 19th over.

Afterward, a small folly of Sandeep Sharma cost his team the game as they lost by four wickets.
