India Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara will now join his Sussex teammates next week.

He was to be available for the first game against Nottinghamshire in the County Cricket Championship.

Pujara has been out of form for the past 2 to 3 years.

He hasn’t made any remarkable scores in all the Test series in recent years nor has he made any big scores as well.

He did not feature along with Ajinkya Rahane in the Test series against Sri Lanka and was also demoted in the BCCI’s annual player contracts.

Thus, Pujara had decided to join the English county scene to improve upon his game and perform better.

But, now he is facing visa issues as the UK government is struggling with the Ukraine crisis.

The government is busy helping the displaced Ukrainian citizens due to Russia’s invasion there.

This indirect delay will now see him being available to Sussex for the second game against Derbyshire the following week.

Even support staff at Sussex have been displeased with this delay as they know how much of an experienced player Pujara is.

They thus want to have Pujara in their squad as soon as possible.

Pujara will also play the Royal London 50-over matches after the County Championship.

Additionally, Sussex will also miss Ollie Robinson who has been out of cricketing action after sustaining an injury.
