“India vs Pakistan – that’s bigger than the Ashes. Yes, that’s bigger than Ashes, absolutely. That’s humongous on the world stage. Billions of people watching that. We know what comes. Let’s see what happens on the 15th. I’ll go watch it,” Gayle told The Times of India.
Chris Gayle further added the key players for the Indian team in this World Cup
“Jasprit Bumrah for sure. I am sure he’s going to be back. And young man Surya (Suryakumar Yadav). These two guys (will be key for India),” Chris Gayle mentioned.
The Indian ace fast bowler is ruled out of cricket for a long time now. He is setting up the tone to return to the Indian team for the Asia Cup. There were reports that he might also be the part of the Ireland T20i series. Later on, it was decided that he will take part straight away in the Asia Cup. However, his teammate KL Rahul is also set to come back into the squad for Asia Cup only.
Other than these two cricketers, Pant and Iyer are also missing from the current setup of the team. Pant, who faced an accident in the earlier days of this year has started rehab. Iyer once again went to have another surgery for his back injury. Surya Kumar Yadav may not get the opportunity the playing 11 in ODIs that quickly.
