Suresh Raina, Chennai Super Kings’ most prolific batter went unsold in this year’s auction for the first time in IPL history.

Fondly known as ‘Chinna Thala’, he has been with the Super Kings since their inception in 2008.

His statistics are also very impressive overall in the IPL.

He has played 205 games in the league and scored 5528 runs at a batting average of 32.52.

He always has maintained an impressive strike rate of 136.76.

Even his fellow teammate, Robin Uthappa indicated that Chennai Super Kings would go after Raina in the auctions but it was not meant to be.

Raina has always been a nightmare for all bowlers in the IPL as he bats very aggressively and smashes boundaries at will.

But in the last season, Raina was not in top form. He did manage to make only a single half-century and scored 160 runs overall.

He also had an average of 17.

Meanwhile, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanath revealed the reason for not going after Raina in the auctions.

On the team’s official YouTube channel he said that Chennai Super Kings were planning to have a new setup for this year’s IPL and they thought that Raina might not fit properly in this setup.
