Just before the tournament, the Chennai Super Kings have received rather troubling news as it came forward that their all-rounder, Deepak Chahar will miss the major chunk of the IPL.

The Super Kings are awaiting the final report on Chahar’s fitness from the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

Chahar had developed a quadricep tear during the 3rd T20I against West Indies that may take several weeks to heal.

Deepak Chahar was the second-highest buy after Ishan Kishan in the IPL Mega Auctions this year.

Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings bid heavily on Chahar.

Chahar started his IPL career with the Rising Pune Supergiants in 2016.

In the 2018 auctions, Chennai Super Kings bought Chahar for INR 80 lakhs.

The Chennai Super Kings have also started preparations for the upcoming season by camping themselves in Surat which lies just at the border of Maharashtra and Gujarat.

The pitches in Surat will allow the franchise to have much-needed practice as it has similar pitches to both Mumbai and Pune.

The move to Surat will also cut down travel time.
