Deepak Chahar has run into more than one problem as now he has injured his back while rehabbing at NCA.

Chahar has sustained an L5 lower back injury when doing his rehabilitation at the NCA.

The physios have reported the same to both CSK and BCCI via a letter.

This has put his plans of rehabilitation awry and he may thus miss out on the entire season of the IPL as well as remain 3 months away from the sport.

Chennai Super Kings and BCCI are concerned regarding Deepak Chahar’s injuries.

BCCI wants Chahar to recover from his injuries by October-November so as to be able to participate in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.

The absence of Deepak Chahar has been hurting the Chennai Super Kings of late in this year’s IPL as they have suffered 5 losses and have won just 1 game in the season.

The franchise has so far not thought about any replacements for Chahar as he is their star bowler.

Chennai Super Kings had bought back Deepak Chahar for INR 14 crores at the Mega Auctions.

CSK have looked into a couple of options in Dhawal Kulkarni and Ishant Sharma but both of them are not even close to Deepak Chahar in terms of Powerplay stats.

While Chahar has 42 wickets in the Powerplay, Ishant and Dhawal have 9 and 5 respectively.

In other news, BCCI has confirmed that Chahar will not lose out on his IPL money even though he will not be playing a single match in the season.

The board has confirmed that as all contracts are insured, so Chahar may be able to procure some if not all of his 14 crores of his contract with the Chennai Super Kings.
