Virat Kohli faces yet another milestone before taking the field against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. Kohli needed 21 runs to reach the milestone. Likewise Kohli, Chennai captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni also had a chance to touch the milestone.
Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings have played four matches so far in the IPL. Both teams have won two matches each. The two teams will meet in Bengaluru on Monday in pursuit of a third win. Dhoni and Kohli can touch the milestone in this match.
Neither Kohli, nor Dhoni reached those milestones
Kohli required 21 more runs against Dhoni’s CSK. If so, he will complete 1000 runs against Chennai in IPL. Kohli’s collection against CSK till this match is 979 runs. If he could have score 21 runs, Kohli would have become the second cricketer to complete 1000 runs against Chennai. Now only Shikhar Dhawan has this precedent.
Apart from Kohli, Dhoni had a chance to reach the milestone. He needed just 2 runs. Only then would the experienced wicketkeeper-batsman set the precedent of scoring the most runs against RCB. Dhoni has collected 838 runs against RCB so far. David Warner has 1 run more than him. His collection against Bengaluru is 839 runs. That is, Dhoni would have came to the top if he had scored 2 runs. However, Dhoni got the opportunity to score just a run against RCB.
The interest of cricket lovers is peaked with Dhoni vs Kohli fight. Both the former captains of India are hugely popular. Naturally, the cricket world is looking forward to Monday’s match in the IPL. With this, two cricketers can touch personal milestones.
However Kohli managed to score just 6 runs off 4 balls as he departs in the first over only. While coming to the field to chase down a huge target of 227 posed by CSK. Kohli looked to step out a slog Akash Singh’s good length ball. But it got an inside edge into the pads. The ball unfortunately then rolled off the boot, and went on to hit the stumps, and one of the bails came off.
